West Coast Connection

This post is a little photo journal from the wedding Scott & I went to last weekend. From Tahoe to San Francisco the natural beauty, cityscapes and people all proved to be an inspiring combination. I also used this trip as an opportunity to pull out my old manual (film!) camera to snap some pictures. It was nice not to have the pleasure of 'instant photo gratification' and I am very excited to pick them up from the developer this afternoon. If I can get them on a disk, maybe I will be able to share them with all of you too! As for now, here are some of the digital photos.

Recession Chic

I don't care what kind of person you are, everyone loves a deal. Former Furniture is a website that ignites the thrill of the find in me. While the items are gently used from local L.A. designers and showrooms, they do not come with the "second hand"stigma. It is even fun to muse that these items once sat in the homes of some of Hollywood's finest. Below are a handful of finds that can leave buyers with the feeling they can get star power without having to break the bank.

Zebra Mirror, a cool way to get a trendy pattern without being overwhelming: $1,450

Traditional, spindle leg chair with brass nailhead trim and cream linen upholstery. Timeless, traditional and clean. Was $1,450. Now $475. Trestle Table with gorgeous plank top. $2,200.

This coffee table once belonged to a famous actress (who's name cannot be disclosed!). Made of reclaimed oak this piece has cool rustic charm. Was $2,500. Now $1,395

This is a steal. A Ralph Lauren chair upholstered in a neutral herringbone with brass nailheads. Was $2,500. Now $675. Puuuuuurfection.
Osborne and Little velvet upholstered sofa from the Orange County Designer Tour Showhouse. Was $3,500. Now $2,400.

Modern take on a klismos chair. Was $5,432. Now $2,400.

This is a pair of these hot air balloon prints. With burlap matte and neutral tones these prints bring amusing character to a room. Pair was $900. Now $700.

Seafoam green provincial chairs with fanned back and rattan seating. Once belonged to a film producer, now made available to you! Was $2,200 for the set. Now $2,000

At almost ten feet tall this is a unique painting of a tailor. A neat piece for a distinctive space. Was $8,000. Now $4,500.

A sleek piece with Japanese influence and a limestone top. Was $3950. Now $1625.
A cocktail table with a silver leaf finish. Legs reminiscent of the Greek Key motif. Was $3,500. Now $1,850.

Upholstered wing bed made for a top L.A designer and never used. Tufting and wing sides make this a fun take on a traditional wing backed chair. Fully upholstered in linen. Was $12,000. Now $4,200.

A. Rudin chair upholstered in a matelasse with nailhead detail. Was $3,400. Now $1,300.

shaw&will

Over Labor Day weekend I went to the gorgeous wedding of Shaw Smith and Will Morris in Harbor Springs, Michigan. It was such a treat to be in attendance for the festivities that were truly a celebration of the couple, families and friends. Additionally, it was an amazing official close to summer as the weather could not have been better and the time flew by as guests spent time out on the water, by the beach, sitting by a bonfire and dancing (and singing) the nights away.

In the style of casual elegance, guests rode their bikes to and from the church

Happy (Long!) Weekend!

I hope everyone has an amazing Labor Day weekend filled with family, friends and lots of fun!

Wall Sconce

This is a horrible picture, but I needed to show you guys these wall sconces that are suavely gracing the cover of Canadian House and Home (soon to be my new favorite design mag). I love these light fixtures. They are for sure not your average swing arm lamp. Nope. The extension arm, brass finish and black paper shade make these verrrrrry special. I must find them and bring them home to adorn my bedside wall!
